Warren Covered Bridge, Warren Vermont
Walter Bagley built the Lincoln Gap bridge in 1880. You may be confused when you search in Google because it comes up as the Warren Covered Bridge. Even I have trouble keeping them straight. But This is another covered bridge that has two (or more) names based on what road crosses through it, or what was near it when it was built, and maybe the name of a person who died near it. Lincoln Gap versus Warren Covered Bridge
I just typed into Google (like most of you do) “lincoln gap covered bridge” and it gave me this map centered on the Warren Covered Bridge which crosses the Mad River and takes the Covered Bridge Road out to Route 100.
According to Ed Barna who wrote the book, Covered Bridges of Vermont. the sign above the entrance that says Lincoln Gap isn’t indicating the name of the bridge. The sign is for a nearby location. This answer is probably accurate since the Lincoln Gap Road is just across Route 100 and south of Covered bridge road by 400 ft.
It makes sense to call it the Warren Covered Bridge. (location, location, location!)
One of the interesting features of this covered bridge is that the outside of the covered bridge is covered hence the covered bridge name. But also the inside of the bridge is covered as well. This amounts to a lot of extra expense but also a lot of weather protection. This is only one

The bridge is located within the Warren village Historic Residential District. The village stands in the folds of a jumble of short, steep hillocks, displaying a mix of old New England and Victorian architecture. The old mill dam stands in ruin downstream from the bridge.
