Watson Settlement Covered Bridge
The furthest away covered bridge in Maine. Foxcroft Road and Framingham Roads. Framingham Rd. takes you over, Smith Brook.
The Watson settlement covered bridge used to cross the Smith Brook. This was the furthest East covered bridge in Maine and I say “was” because it burned down a few years back. Probably bored kids playing around and then we lose a little more of our historic covered bridges. The area is a bit rustic (depressed) so I doubt it will be rebuilt, as this takes money.
A Red Fox off Foxcroft Rd.
This image (above) is the only image of it that you will get any more. Lisa and I got there after driving up Foxcroft Road and when we got to where the bridge “was” a beautiful red fox came up to our car to greet us. I don’t know if people feed him because he got very close to the car.
When it didn’t appear that we were going to feed him, he let us know in no uncertain terms that he was not impressed by us.
I think the picture says it all… 🙂
So as of 2022, Maine is down to eight covered bridges and you can read about them in this article on the Nine Covered Bridges in Maine.
