The Fall Color is Fading in the Mountains, where do you look for the Fall Foliage?
Well, we are moving down out of the Green and White Mountains and into the lower elevations. I know you want this to go on forever but all good things come to an end… So where do we go this week?
Vermont, New Hampshire, and Maine are not done yet!
We came south on Route 7 on the Western side of the Green Mountains on Sunday and being near the lake (as I always say) is later than the rest of Vermont and southern Vermont is still showing off (in certain areas).
We cut across southern New Hampshire and I stopped in Hancock New Hampshire at their town common on Route 123. But you
could check out Hillsboro New Hampshire and the Lake region around Lake Winnipesaukee which is large enough to have great color this week. (2nd to 3rd week of October) Maybe check out the Castle in the Clouds, which is off Route 9 to the East of the lake.
As we passed into Massachusetts on Route 119 we were passing Townsend and I pulled over at Harbor Pond. I don’t know why they call it that… they don’t have a harbor being landlocked, so why… Harbor Pond?
This brought our Sunday (16 Oct 2022) to an end with the loss of the sunlight and arriving home in Salem Mass.
Free shipping to North America in my new Gallery on all Artwork
Just a short message to say there is free shipping to US and Canadian addresses in my New Gallery. I know our dollars have to go further these days and I’m hoping that this will help people out. Just follow this link to my gallery and look over my New England Gallery of images.
Where to look this coming week?
The week of 18-23 October will have Lisa and me heading across Massachusetts along the Mohawk trail and looking around the Pioneer Valley in central Massachusetts. You might take a drive up along the coast from Massachusetts through to Maine. I had a report of bright fall colors in Acadia National Park as of the 17th.
Kent Connecticut (the Litchfield Hills) is always a nice drive and you can explore southern Massachusetts locations like Bash Bish Falls (as seen in this article). You can find Bash Bish Falls in Mount Washington Massachusetts. Or Historic Deerfield as well.

Tyler and I just wanted to thank you and Lisa for the detailed reports and suggestions for where to find the best color or gems like Maple Grove Farm. We found beautiful color everywhere we went. We are already looking forward to next year!! Thanks again!!!
