Staying at the Cabot Inn and Suites

So, my plan was to drive up after work from Massachusetts on Sept 26th to Lancaster, New Hampshire. I made quick online reservations through my Thrifty Lodgings page with affiliate links and got an immediate reservation at the Cabot Inn and Suites.

They meet all my basic requirements. They are comfortable and clean, and they are a good jumping-off point to hit the further north scenic locations. Oh, and the Grand Marquis coming out of the parking lot is not mine, but I was driving one just like that back then… 🙂

Late September, Good Color means Dixville Notch

Several years ago, I set out early from my hotel with the goal of witnessing dawn at Dixville Notch. Tucked deep in the Northern White Mountains, Dixville Notch is a remote, forested area known for its rugged beauty and serene landscapes. The area feels wild and untouched, making it a striking destination for those who appreciate nature at its most pristine. The early morning light filtering through the low-hanging fog and over the rocky cliffs made the long drive well worth it.

Traveling along Route 26 is part of the experience, offering a scenic journey from Colebrook in the west to Errol in the east. The drive winds through a mix of dense forest and open vistas, with plenty of opportunities to stop and take in the views. Once in Errol, you can explore the local trading post or continue your adventure by heading into Maine or south on Route 16, where more of the White Mountains’ attractions await. Whether you’re chasing foliage, looking for solitude, or just out for a peaceful drive, this route offers a memorable slice of northern New Hampshire.

The Cabot Inn and Suites is right off I-93 near Lancaster, NH. It’s fairly inexpensive and won’t break the bank. It makes it easy to stop in and make the further North locations a lot less tiring…
